This weekend's activities for the various leagues around town include an out of town tournament, and flashing back to our youth.
First off, the ladies from Ottawa Roller Derby are holding a fundraiser at the Legion tonight (Friday, July 15th) starting around 9pm. Drop $8 into their kitty, and you too can relive the fun, music, and of course, fashion disasters from our childhood. I am, of course, going to assume that you're all around the same age as me and you grew up in the 80s. If you didnt... I dont know whether to be happy for you, or sad...
More information can be found at the event's Facebook page.
Also this weekend, the Capital City Derby Dolls have travelled to Moncton, NB, to take part in the Muddy River Atlantic Jamboree, where they will face off against teams mainly from Atlantic Canada. The event is hosted by the Muddy River Rollers, and include teams from Fredricton, St Johns, Halifax, Newfoundland, and of course the Muddy River Rollers themselves. More information can be found at the MRR website. While our host (and regular interviewer), the Emir of Istanbul, is unable to attend the event, we will still receive interviews from all the teams courtesy of one of the CCDD referees who made the trip down to Moncton to help ref the bout. Mech, a well known ref in the Ottawa region, has taken up the responsibility of talking to the captains from all the teams that are competing after each bout.
That's it for this week's updates. There's another RVRG double header taking place next weekend, but we'll have more on that around mid-week. The latest podcast still isnt finished, and the delays are of a personal nature rather than a technical one. It'll get polished up over the weekend, and be released, ready for your consumption, first thing Monday morning.
