The Nation's Capital Proves Victorious Once Again

Ottawa Derbycast returns from a two week hiatus just in time for two amazing matches that took place in Ottawa this past weekend. First off, Ottawa Roller Derby welcomed Kingston's Limestone CrusHers in their home opener. It was an incredibly close match that came down to a Sudden Death Overtime jam to decide the bout. ORD proved victorious with a final score of 147 to 140.

The Capital City Derby Dolls hosted Durham Region Roller Derby's Durham Derby Devils. The match was tight going into halftime, with Durham taking an early lead, and their main jammers Darth Kater and 12 Guage easily took lead jammer during the first 10 jams. The Dolls responded with Lobster and Diana Destroi who, along with Vandal Eyes and Eastern Block'her, started to even the lead jammer tallies. The Doll's coach Red must have lit a fire under them during the halftime team talk, as the second period began with the Dolls pulling ahead and slowly but surely widening the lead in what was eventually a well fought victory. The final score there 158 to 114. The Dolls have their own writeup of the match at their wordpress site

Congratulations go out to both teams for bringing triumph back to the Nation's Capital.

Episode 3 of the podcast is set to be released shortly (in the next half hour or so), so look for that on the regular podcast feed.
