The fall/winter season is upon us, and the Derby bouting season is long past (except for a surprising event run by our favourite out-of-towners, Kingston's Limestone CrusHers this past Sunday where they recorded their first win of the season against a mixed team from Peterborough and our very own Ottawa Roller Derby).
But, just because you can't see them smacking into each other in a competitive venue, that doesnt mean you can't come out and support the teams/leagues. The month of November has 2 fundraising events going on.
The first is a karaoke event that takes place this Saturday at the James Street Pub, being hosted by the Capital City Derby Dolls. Come and spend $2, and make your favourite derby girl sing the song of your choice. The event starts at 8pm, and will probably go all night. Full details can be found on the Facebook event page.
The other event that's taking place this month is a Roller Disco, being put on by the ladies over at Ottawa Roller Derby. Put on your old bellbottoms, dig out that old giant 70s wig, and come skate the night away disco style. The party runs from 7 to 10pm on Friday, Nov 25th at the Centre Multisport, 211 rue Montcalm in Gatineau. Entry is $15 if you need to rent a pair of skates, or $5 if you bring along your own.
Please refer to their event page for more details.
